Private flight vs. commercial flight
In addition to commercial flights, we also advertise private, non-commercial flights on a cost-sharing basis. Private pilots with a PPL(H) license can take passengers and divide the direct operating costs evenly among all occupants. This EASA-compliant cost-sharing makes unforgettable flight experiences affordable for everyone involved while maintaining safety standards—yet we clearly point out that there are different safety standards between commercial and private flights (see EASA Annex "Annex to Safety Charter non-commercial General Aviation" Article 1)!
See below the legal basis according to EASA:
According to European Regulation (EU) No. 965/2012, cost-sharing for civil flights is explicitly permitted. Private pilots may share their flights and the associated operating costs, provided the aircraft used carries a maximum of six persons including the pilot.
Cost-sharing refers exclusively to direct flight costs (e.g., fuel, landing fees, rental fees). Commercial activity exists only if there is an intent to generate profit. Since this is not the case with cost-sharing flights, they are fundamentally non-commercial flights.
The term “on a cost-sharing basis” means that flight costs are distributed evenly among all occupants—including the pilot. It is legally irrelevant who flies along or whether there is a personal relationship between pilot and passengers. Even the fact that such flights are actively advertised or shared via special platforms does not change their non-commercial nature.
In line with the EASA “Safety Charter for non-commercial General Aviation,” cost-sharing flights may be advertised as long as no commercial profit is made. Alpine Flights consistently adheres to the requirements of the corresponding EASA Safety Charter Annex document in advertising and conducting these flights. See the relevant EASA - ANNEX.
The costs we specify for advertised cost-sharing flights already include the pilot’s share of the expenses.
You have the choice between a single ticket or an exclusive private flight for up to 4 people.
- Single ticket
By purchasing a single ticket, you are participating in a group flight consisting of a total of four passengers. Alpine Flights sets fixed flight routes and dates for these flights. You will receive several suggested dates in good time; we strive to accommodate individual scheduling requests, but cannot guarantee availability. Should you be unable to attend on a suggested date, you are of course welcome to join one of the next available flights.
- Private flight
If you opt for a private flight, the entire helicopter will be exclusively yours for up to four people. The date, flight route, and individual requests will be planned flexibly and entirely according to your wishes. This way, you enjoy maximum flexibility and a personalized flight experience tailored to your preferences.
